In a move to advance the sustainable transport goals in the city, ADNOC Distribution and Terra Tech Ltd. have launched Abu Dhabi’s first battery-swapping station for electric motorbikes. The initiative marks a milestone in the capital’s transition towards cleaner, more efficient mobility solutions.

Located at one of ADNOC’s flagship service stations, the facility enables riders to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones within seconds—eliminating long charging times and reducing emissions. The service is designed to support the fast-growing last-mile delivery sector, where electric motorbikes are increasingly being adopted to lower operational costs and carbon footprints.

Through its partnership with ADNOC Distribution, Terra Tech gains access to a nationwide network of highly visible and accessible service stations—crucial for scaling battery-swapping technology efficiently. The collaboration underscores how traditional fuel providers are evolving to integrate clean transport solutions into their operations.

The launch aligns with Abu Dhabi Mobility’s target for half of all vehicles to be electric by 2040 and supports the UAE’s overarching Net Zero 2050 strategy. By offering a quicker and eco-friendlier charging alternative, the initiative aims to make electric mobility more practical for delivery riders and businesses alike.
