Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE)
For smart, low-carbon, customer-focused energy
EtihadWE has strengthened its position as a forward-looking utility by integrating clean energy, smart infrastructure, and customer engagement. Over the past year, the company rolled out more than 500,000 smart meters under its Advanced Metering Infrastructure, enabling real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated alerts. Through its Distributed Solar System, households, farms, and industries can generate rooftop solar power and earn energy credits, thereby promoting the adoption of decentralized renewable energy. EtihadWE’s complete transition to reverse osmosis desalination resulted in a 60 percent reduction in energy consumption compared to thermal methods. At the same time, its Non-Revenue Water Reduction Program cut water and energy losses by nearly 20 percent. The launch of UAEV, the first government-owned EV charging network, further supports clean mobility across the Emirates. By connecting electricity, water, and mobility into a single, adaptive system, EtihadWE drives measurable environmental, social, and economic impact, reducing emissions and optimizing resources.
