The unveiling of the Michelin Guide Dubai is big news in the gourmand world. For a very good reason, too – Dubai is one of the top cities in the world for fine dining. And now, it’s got plenty of those coveted stars.

Around the world, the Michelin Guide is held in high regard as one of the most prestigious lists on where to dine. Today, Dubai, a city that continues to push the envelope when it comes to incredible dining experiences, joined the Michelin Guide family – the ranks of the best-rated food locales in the world. In its inaugural edition, the Michelin Guide 2022 awarded two restaurants – Il Ristorante – Niko Romito (Bvlgari Resort) and Stay by Yannick Alleno (One&Only The Palm) — two Michelin stars.

Showcasing the excellence, talent, and creativity of Dubai’s culinary landscape, nine restaurants serving diverse cuisines – from Portuguese and Indian to Japanese and Chinese – received one Michelin star. They include 11 Woodfire, Al Muntaha, Armani Ristorante at Burj Khalifa, Dubai outpost of Hakkasan at the Atlantis Hotel, Höseki at Bulgari Resort, Ossiano at Atlantis Hotel, Tasca by José Avillez in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Torno Subito in W Hotel, and Trèsind Studio.

The selection was made according to the tried and tested methodology applied all over the world, using a standard set of five criteria, which include the quality of the ingredients, the mastery of cooking, the harmony of flavors, the expression of the chef’s personality through the cuisine and the consistency of the menu across dishes and time.

The canny eater should consider aiming at the Bib Gourmand list – a kind of “highly commended” restaurant that offers a value-for-money gourmet experience. The Michelin Guide Dubai 2022 spotlights 14 Bib Gourmand, including Al Khayma, Bait Maryam, Brasserie Boulud, Fi’Lias, Folly, Goldfish, Ibn Albahr, Indya by Vineet, Kinoya, Ninive, Orfali Bros, REIF Japanese Kushiyaki, Shabestan, and Teible.

Lowe, a restaurant by culinary duo Kate Christou and Jesse Blake, was awarded a Michelin Green Star for sustainable gastronomy.

“This very first Dubai selection of restaurants marks a historical moment for the Michelin Guide and the Middle East,” says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide. “What makes Dubai’s culinary landscape so distinctive is its reflection of the more than 200 nationalities that call the city home, delivering an epicurean kaleidoscope. One thing all the restaurants in this fast-paced, dynamic and elegant city have in common is they are brimming with passion and enthusiasm. Today, Dubai is settled as an inspiring gastronomic destination, and we have no doubts that gourmets from all over the world will be seduced by its very unique energy.”
