Abu Dhabi to host largest art fair featuring 78 galleries from 27 countries
Part of this year’s guest curators and collaborators are historian Rachida Triki and gallerist Jade Yeşim Turanlı.
Abu Dhabi’s contemporary art fair, Abu Dhabi Art, has unveiled its largest edition ever, scheduled to return to the capital from November 16 to 20 at Manarat Al Saadiyat. The 14th edition of the fair will feature 78 galleries from 27 countries, highlighting artists from North Africa, Turkey, and the wider region.
The art fair is the culmination of Abu Dhabi Art’s year-round visual arts program.
“Since the first fair in 2007, Abu Dhabi Art has played an integral role in the art eco-system in Abu Dhabi and the wider emirates, fueling the appetite for art in the region. Over the years, we have not only succeeded in bolstering the growth of the country’s cultural and creative industries but also in nurturing homegrown talent,” said Dyala Nusseibeh, Director of Abu Dhabi Art, in a statement.
Part of this year’s guest curators and collaborators are historian Rachida Triki, gallerist Jade Yeşim Turanlı, and arts journalist Riccarda Mandrini.
“Through collaborations with guest curators such as Rachida Triki, Jade Yeşim Turanlı and Riccarda Mandrini, we also continue to enable diverse perspectives to be present at the fair, ensuring that Abu Dhabi Art continues to be a place of discovery for our art collectors and wider public,” Nusseibeh added.
The success of last year’s fair has resulted in a record 45 galleries returning for the 2022 event whilst also attracting the participation of 33 new galleries, demonstrating the international art world’s confidence in the region post-COVID.
Hailing from countries spanning the globe, including Italy, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, and India, the local, regional, and international galleries will provide visitors an immersive experience to explore a wide selection of artworks from both established and emerging artists.
The Modern & Contemporary section of the fair this year will feature 44 participating galleries. There will also be 37 galleries presented in curated booths in categories including Special Projects, Focus, and Emerge.
The fair will also be available virtually for visitors to explore in addition to the physical fair at explore.abudhabiart.ae.
