Saudi Arabia’s Rua Al Madinah project to add $37 million to GDP
Developed by Saudi’s Public Investment Fund, the project will cover 1.5 million square meters
Saudi Arabia has unveiled a plan for the Rua Al Madinah project that will showcase historical monuments of significance to the legacy of the Prophet and his companions and also seeks to revive the city’s cultural and architectural heritage.
The Rua Al Madinah project launched by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman would create 93,000 total direct and indirect jobs, adding $37.25 million to Saudi Arabia’s Gross Domestic Product, according to its CEO Al-Juhani.
Located east of the Prophet’s Mosque, the project also offers an opportunity to employ human cadres during its construction phase and targets to build 47,000 hospitality units by 2030.
Developed by Saudi’s Public Investment Fund, the project will cover 1.5 million square meters, of which 63% will be dedicated to green spaces for visitors and worshipers of the Prophet’s Mosque.
The Rua Al Madinah project will augment the hosting capacity for Umrah pilgrims to around 30 million in the coming years, the Crown Prince and chairman of both the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and the PIF said during the launch event.
Aiming to advance Madinah’s status as a modern Islamic and cultural destination, the Rua Al Madinah will also showcase the city’s heritage while improving the quality of life for the residents of the city.
In line with the PIF’s efforts to develop promising sectors, the project is a part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
