Inside e&’s $19.9 billion year and its race toward 6G

The Group’s subscriber base grew 31.3% to 244.7 million, with e& UAE reaching 16.3 million, up 8.4% from 2024.

e& reported record financial results for 2025, with consolidated revenues rising 23.1% year on year to approximately $19.9 billion and net profit increasing 33.6% to about $3.9 billion. EBITDA grew 21.1% to roughly $8.7 billion, reflecting broad-based expansion across its business verticals.

The Group’s total subscriber base increased 31.3% to 244.7 million, while e& UAE surpassed 16.3 million subscribers, up 8.4% compared with 2024. The board proposed a total dividend of 90 fils per share for 2025, approximately $0.25, with plans to raise this to 95 fils per share, around $0.26, in 2026.

The company also confirmed that Group Chief Executive Officer Hatem Dowidar will step down on 31 March 2026 after six years in the role. Since 2020, Dowidar has overseen the company’s transition from a regional telecommunications operator into a diversified global technology group with operations spanning the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

The Board has appointed Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, currently CEO of e& UAE, as his successor effective 1 April 2026. Dowidar said the 2025 performance reflects the strength of the Group’s strategy and operating model.

Alongside its financial growth, e& accelerated its digital and artificial intelligence strategy. The Group collaborated with Amazon Web Services on sovereign cloud and national AI training initiatives, partnered with IBM to launch a watsonx AI governance platform focused on compliance and oversight, and worked with Qualcomm Technologies to advance 5G and edge AI capabilities. It also expanded its AI Academy and graduate programs, aiming to train 30,000 people in AI and cloud skills.

On the infrastructure front, the company rolled out the region’s first commercial 5.5G network and introduced RedCap technology to support low-power IoT connectivity. It launched 5G network slicing solutions for enterprises, deployed private 5G networks for industrial clients, and modernized its 5G core.

In partnership with Space42, e& plans to explore direct-to-device satellite connectivity built on the Equatys platform, enabling integrated 5.5G satellite and terrestrial networks. The collaboration will also focus on developing vehicle-to-everything technologies to support autonomous mobility and smart city infrastructure in the UAE.

Through its fibre-first strategy, e& UAE helped the country achieve a fibre-to-the-home coverage rate of 99.5%, positioning the UAE among the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure markets.

The company also conducted the Middle East’s first 6G connectivity trial using terahertz frequencies in collaboration with New York University Abu Dhabi, achieving record data transmission speeds.

It supported the establishment of the UAE 6G Innovation Centre and unified national laboratories for 5G and 6G networks in partnership with Khalifa University and Zayed University, reinforcing the country’s role in global 6G standards development.
