Saudi Arabia introduces logistics observatory to strengthen supply chain resilience
New initiative by the Federation of Saudi Chambers aims to turn private sector insights into real-time data for stronger, more resilient supply chains.
The Federation of Saudi Chambers has launched the “Logistics Challenges Observatory,” a new initiative to track operational and economic bottlenecks across industries and strengthen supply chain resilience in the Kingdom.
At its core, the observatory aims to provide a clearer, data-driven view of supply chain performance by capturing private-sector feedback and translating it into actionable insights to inform policymaking and improve operational efficiency.
The platform adopts a digital-first approach, enabling the design of targeted surveys alongside the systematic collection and analysis of industry data. In doing so, it seeks to develop reliable indicators that support faster, more informed decision-making.
A key focus is on critical sectors such as food and pharmaceuticals, where the observatory will monitor challenges including shipment delays, rising operational costs, and supplier dependencies. It will also assess risks linked to imports and logistics routes, offering forward-looking visibility into potential vulnerabilities.
Beyond tracking issues, the initiative is structured to convert insights into regular analytical reports, helping stakeholders develop practical responses, enhance sector performance, and adapt more effectively to shifting economic conditions.
The Federation is encouraging investors and businesses across the Kingdom to actively participate by sharing challenges and proposals, positioning the observatory as a collaborative platform between the public and private sectors.
Ultimately, the move reflects a broader push to build a more robust data ecosystem, one that supports evidence-based decision-making, strengthens supply chain sustainability, and reinforces food and pharmaceutical security in Saudi Arabia.
