High-quality development data is the foundation of meaningful policy-making and effective public service delivery. To improve the use of data in the creation of economic strategies, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) and the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) of Saudi Arabia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share information and knowledge as well as improved statistical, scientific, and economic analysis.

“Both the Ministry and GASTAT are committed to supporting the public and private sector in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. A deep understanding of our data is key to ensuring we are pulling the right levers to drive the kingdom’s economic diversification journey and facilitate economic growth for all,” said H.E. Faisal Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning and Chairman of GASTAT.

“This agreement is a key milestone in our strong and essential partnership. It will enable us to publish a range of statistics, indicators, and products to support and empower policy and decision makers and assist the public in understanding policy priorities,” Alibrahim added.

The MoU is part of MEP and GASTAT’s efforts to assist statistical work development and give a new statistical dimension to the kingdom by utilizing their respective scientific and knowledge expertise to advance the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
