Google rolls out Personal Intelligence in Gemini across the Arab world
The feature links apps such as Gmail and Google Photos to deliver more tailored responses, with privacy controls and source visibility built in
Google has launched Personal Intelligence in the Gemini app for users across the Arab world, adding a new layer of personalization by allowing the assistant to securely connect with apps such as Gmail and Google Photos.
The feature is designed to make Gemini more useful by enabling it to reason across personal data sources and retrieve specific details from emails, images, videos, and other connected content, delivering more tailored responses.
Google said Personal Intelligence was first introduced in the US earlier this year and is now rolling out to subscribers in the Arab world as the company expands Gemini’s personalized capabilities.
At its core, the feature focuses on two capabilities: reasoning across complex data sources and extracting relevant details from personal content when needed. In practice, this allows Gemini to answer questions using a combination of text, photos, and video, generating responses aligned with a user’s history, preferences, and interests.
Google said the feature can support a range of everyday tasks, from recommending books to helping users build travel itineraries based on past experiences and stored information. Privacy, the company said, remains central to the rollout.
Personal Intelligence is turned off by default and requires users to actively enable it. Users can choose which apps to connect and can disable the feature at any time. Google said that when activated, Gemini only accesses connected data to respond to specific requests and perform user-initiated tasks.
Because the data remains within Google’s ecosystem, users do not need to share sensitive personal information with third-party services to benefit from personalization.
The company added that Gemini will aim to show how its responses are generated by referencing or explaining information pulled from connected apps, allowing users to verify outputs rather than accept them at face value.
The broader goal, Google said, is to make Gemini more useful without compromising user control.
“Personal Intelligence securely connects information from apps like Gmail and Google Photos to make Gemini uniquely helpful,” the company said.
The feature is now available to users in the Arab world subscribed to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra, with plans to extend access to free users in the coming weeks.
