UAE introduces data-driven AI system to improve work permit approvals and workforce quality
The system will use data-driven criteria such as skills, education, experience and expertise to evaluate work permit applications.
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), has unveiled an AI-driven initiative to enhance labor market productivity and efficiency.
The project leverages artificial intelligence, smart algorithms, and robotics, aligning with the government’s Agentic AI operations framework introduced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to accelerate digital transformation across federal entities.
Scheduled to launch in early May, the system will introduce a data-driven approach to evaluating work permit applications, using key indicators such as professional skills, educational background, experience, and specialized expertise. Authorities say the model is designed to ensure a more objective and efficient screening process.
The initiative is also intended to strengthen the UAE’s ability to attract highly skilled professionals and meet the evolving demands of a modern, knowledge-based economy.
By streamlining labor-market processes and improving talent selection, the system aims to boost productivity while reinforcing the country’s position as a global hub of expertise.
Officials noted that the project is part of broader national strategies to build a more diversified and balanced labor market, aligned with long-term priorities focused on innovation and the knowledge economy.
