AD Ports Group and Borouge Plc explore new UAE East Coast export hub
The partnership aims to strengthen export resilience, diversify shipping routes, and enhance the UAE’s industrial logistics network.
AD Ports Group and Borouge Plc have signed a partnership agreement to explore expanded collaboration opportunities focused on improving export resilience and operational flexibility.
Under the agreement, both companies will assess establishing an alternative international export hub on the UAE’s East Coast as part of Borouge’s long-term export strategy. The initiative aims to strengthen export continuity while building greater resilience across the company’s logistics network.
As part of the collaboration, the two companies will leverage AD Ports Group’s marine connectivity and port services at Fujairah Terminals and other eastern port facilities across the UAE. The partnership will also explore the development of dedicated polyolefins infrastructure on the East Coast to support future export operations.
In addition, the companies will examine ways to reduce reliance on congested maritime routes and improve flexibility in vessel scheduling and routing. This includes working with shipping lines to develop new trade routes through Fujairah Terminals, to ensure more stable and reliable export flows through a more diversified logistics network.
Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of Ports Cluster at AD Ports Group, said the collaboration reflects the group’s focus on strengthening industrial exports and enhancing trade connectivity.
“We look forward to collaborating with Borouge to explore opportunities that leverage AD Ports Group’s integrated port and logistics capabilities to support essential industrial exports and strengthen regional and global trade connectivity in line with the vision of our wise leadership,” he said.
Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge Plc, described the agreement as a significant step in strengthening the company’s logistics capabilities.
“Together with AD Ports Group, we are building a more flexible and diversified network that enhances reliability, ensures continuity of supply, and reinforces our position as a trusted global supplier, supporting the UAE’s industrial strategy,” he said.
Borouge Plc is currently the largest exporter through AD Ports Group. The latest collaboration builds on a longstanding partnership between the two companies, which began in 2001, and reflects their shared ambition to strengthen supply chain resilience while reinforcing the UAE’s position as a globally competitive logistics and industrial hub.
