Chinese investment in Egypt has exceeded $10 billion, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Monday, highlighting growing confidence among Chinese businesses in the country’s investment climate as the government reviewed new opportunities to deepen economic cooperation with Beijing.

Madbouly made the remarks while chairing the third meeting of the Ministerial Committee for the China Unit, attended by ministers and senior government officials to assess progress on the Egypt-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and identify new areas for collaboration across key sectors.

He said relations between Cairo and Beijing continue to strengthen under the leadership of both countries, building on recent progress to support Egypt’s development agenda and advance shared economic interests.

The prime minister reviewed the status of bilateral projects and stressed the importance of continued coordination among government entities to ensure the effective implementation of joint initiatives.

Chinese investment in Egypt has now surpassed $10 billion, with Chinese companies operating across a broad range of industries, Madbouly said.

“This reflects the growing confidence of the Chinese business community in Egypt’s investment environment and the promising opportunities the country offers investors,” he said.

Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany said the meeting also reviewed a pipeline of joint projects and investment opportunities with Chinese partners across several priority sectors, highlighting the expanding scope of bilateral economic cooperation.

Discussions focused on industrial development, seawater desalination, advanced technology localization, telecommunications, transport, mining, clean energy, specialized chemical and engineering industries, agriculture, and the expansion of Egyptian agricultural exports.

According to the government, the proposed projects are expected to support Egypt’s sustainable development goals by facilitating technology transfer, attracting additional Chinese investment, strengthening local manufacturing, and further deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.

Ministers also reviewed progress on ongoing joint projects and explored additional opportunities to expand collaboration across strategic sectors, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to strengthening their long-term economic partnership.
