Gap Inc. partners with Chalhoub Group to expand Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta across the GCC
The brands will launch online across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait later this year, with physical stores opening across the region in 2027.
Gap Inc. has partnered with Chalhoub Group to expand its Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta brands across the GCC, marking a new phase in the U.S. retailer’s growth strategy in the Middle East.
The partnership brings together Gap Inc.’s global brand portfolio and Chalhoub Group’s regional retail expertise to deliver a seamless omnichannel shopping experience while strengthening customer engagement through localized storytelling, strategic partnerships, and immersive brand experiences.
The three brands will launch online across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait over the remainder of the year, followed by the opening of physical stores across the region in 2027.
The partnership underscores Gap Inc.’s long-term commitment to the Middle East and its strategy of expanding the reach of its brands through retail experiences tailored to local consumers.
David Vercruysse, President of Managed Companies at Chalhoub Group, said Gap Inc. has reinforced its global cultural relevance through a distinctive brand identity, strategic collaborations with leading pop culture figures, and a renewed creative direction. He said the partnership presents a long-term opportunity to strengthen the cultural presence of Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta across the GCC by combining Chalhoub Group’s deep understanding of regional consumers with its digital expertise and omnichannel capabilities. Vercruysse added that the companies have already planned new joint initiatives for the second half of the year.
Eric Chan, Chief Business & Strategy Officer at Gap Inc., said the company was founded on the idea of bringing modern American style to people around the world and described the GCC as one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest-growing retail markets. He said the partnership would expand the reach of Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta through a digitally led, locally relevant retail experience that celebrates each brand’s distinct identity while deepening customer engagement across the Middle East.
