The prevalence of breast cancer in the Middle East indicates that awareness of the condition is crucial for women’s health in the region. Zanubia Shams, co-chair of the Zulekha Healthcare Group, recognized this and launched the Pink it Now campaign to provide free breast cancer consultations for women in the UAE.
Under her leadership, Zulekha Hospitals became the first in the UAE to achieve LEED Platinum certification for sustainability. Shams has also collaborated with the World Bank to support an initiative called She Works to increase the participation of women in the workforce.
