As artificial intelligence continues to reshape how digital solutions are developed, the UAE is making coding more accessible to people without technical expertise.

The UAE Artificial Intelligence Office has launched UAE Vibe Codes, a nationwide initiative developed in collaboration with Microsoft that enables individuals to create websites and digital applications using AI, without prior programming experience.

Announced on October 29 as part of UAE Codes Day, the initiative attracted 5,000 participants within its first hour, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Held under this year’s theme of Vibe Coding, the initiative allows users to describe their ideas in everyday language, with AI-powered tools translating those instructions into working digital prototypes within minutes.

The approach aims to make software development more accessible to students, educators, entrepreneurs, business owners, and employees across the public and private sectors.

Through the initiative’s online platform, participants can develop websites to address workplace challenges, applications to manage daily activities, or digital tools to support startups and educational projects.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, said the initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to making advanced technologies more accessible and enabling individuals to develop solutions that address everyday challenges.

He emphasized that AI can expand opportunities for innovation by allowing people to transform their ideas into practical digital products, regardless of their technical backgrounds.

Al Olama also highlighted the importance of encouraging wider participation in technology development and equipping communities with the skills needed for an increasingly digital economy.

As part of UAE Codes Day, the Artificial Intelligence Office is organizing hands-on workshops with technology and industry partners, including Google, Emirates Global Aluminium, Siemens, and IBM.

The workshops will introduce participants to AI-assisted software development, guiding them through identifying a problem, developing an idea, and creating an initial digital prototype.

The initiative also brings together government entities and private organizations, including the Ministry of Education, UAE Space Agency, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, Emirates Health Services, Emirates NBD, du, and Etisalat UAE.

To broaden public engagement, the Artificial Intelligence Office is collaborating with Emaar and cinemas across the UAE to promote the initiative through digital screens and community platforms.

These partnerships aim to encourage individuals and families to explore emerging technologies while strengthening digital literacy and practical AI skills.

The launch forms part of the UAE’s broader efforts to strengthen its digital economy and encourage innovation across different sectors.

UAE Codes Day was established in 2021 following a directive from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Observed annually on October 29, the occasion commemorates the launch of the region’s first e-government initiative in 2001, which helped lay the groundwork for the UAE’s digital transformation.

In 2023, UNESCO adopted the UAE’s proposal to designate October 29 as the International Day of Programming, recognizing the importance of coding and digital skills in driving innovation.

By introducing AI-powered coding to a wider audience, UAE Vibe Codes aims to reduce technical barriers to software development and encourage more people to participate in creating digital solutions.

The initiative is accessible through the UAE Codes Day platform, where participants can experiment with AI tools and develop their own websites and applications.
