As part of its growing portfolio, UAE healthcare firm PureHealth has acquired Circle Health Group, the UK-based independent operator of hospitals, in a $1.2 billion deal.

With the acquisition, the healthcare platform would enter the UK market and begin its global expansion. The healthcare venture would gain 100% of Circle Health Group’s portfolio, which includes specialties such as orthopedics, oncology, cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, and general surgery. It includes new hospitals, along with the UK’s first purpose-built rehabilitation hospital.

As a leading healthcare platform, PureHealth’s ecosystem includes over 25 hospitals, over 100 clinics, multiple diagnostic centers, insurance solutions, pharmacies, health tech, procurement, investments, and more.

ADQ is the biggest shareholder of PureHealth, with other shareholders including Alpha Dhabi Holding, International Holding Company (IHC), AH Capital, and Ataa Financial Investments.

“This acquisition marks an important milestone in our journey towards creating a global healthcare network which revolutionizes patient care. Our mission at PureHealth is to drive scientific innovation to unlock longevity and greater quality of life for humankind,” said Farhan Malik, Managing Director and Group CEO of PureHealth.

The Abu Dhabi-based healthcare firm aims to invest in scientific innovation and healthcare infrastructure within all its assets, offering patients access to the best possible medical care with the highest international quality standards.

“Patients in the UAE and the UK will benefit from PureHealth’s acquisition, both through the diversity of choice in healthcare provision, expanded network of medical professionals and expertise combined with knowledge sharing that will be developed,” the statement said.

UK-based Circle Health Group will join PureHealth’s expanding portfolio of companies. It includes the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), The National Health Insurance Company (Daman), Tamouh Healthcare, Yas Clinic Group, and the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center.

With the acquisition, the two entities will collaborate on joint clinical research projects, promote advanced technology in healthcare, expand genetic research initiatives, and boost health tourism in both countries.
