Microsoft has entered into a strategic partnership with the Government of Kuwait, represented by the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) and the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), to accelerate digital transformation in line with Kuwait’s Vision 2035. The partnership will establish an AI-powered Azure Region to enhance local AI capabilities, drive economic growth, and foster innovation across industries.

This investment addresses Kuwait’s growing demand for high-performance computing and reliable access to Microsoft services. The new Azure Region will provide scalable, resilient cloud services, supporting businesses, customers, and partners in digital transformation. It also aims to position Kuwait as a regional leader in AI technology.

The initiative will attract global businesses and researchers, helping to build a thriving tech ecosystem. A Microsoft Technology Innovation Hub will be created, featuring an AI Innovation Centre focused on developing solutions for national challenges and a Cloud Centre of Excellence to guide cloud adoption and strategy.

In a groundbreaking move, the government will equip employees with Microsoft 365 Copilot, improving efficiency, productivity, and decision-making across departments. This will optimize operations and set a new standard for public sector governance. A Copilot Centre of Excellence will also be established to provide resources for creating innovative applications.

Judson Althoff, Executive VP at Microsoft, said, “We are proud to partner with the Government of Kuwait to accelerate AI Transformation and unlock innovation.” Samer Abu-Ltaif, President of Microsoft EMEA, added, “This partnership will strengthen Kuwait’s digital infrastructure and promote sustainable economic growth.”

Microsoft and the government will collaborate on the Cybersphere initiative to enhance cybersecurity and launch a comprehensive skilling initiative to prepare Kuwait’s workforce for future technological needs. This partnership is key to fostering a diversified digital economy and attracting foreign investment.
