Abu Dhabi Ports Group (AD Ports) has announced a partnership with Hong Kong-based Hutchison Ports to jointly explore business and investment opportunities in the GCC, Africa, and Asia.

The two companies will focus on feedering, logistics, and port activities in the aforementioned regions and will collaborate to improve and optimise port operations in Tanzania.

In a prepared statement, AD Ports revealed that the companies will jointly work on “improving servicing to several of Tanzania’s landlocked remote areas and neighboring countries, cultivating more cargo sources, and enhancing existing supporting logistics and cargo processing facilities.”

Developing new infrastructure and new inland container depots around Dar Es Salaam Port is among the top priorities for the joint effort. For those unaware, the Dar Es Salaam Port is strategically located and is one of the most important ports for eastern, central, and southern Africa. It handles over 75 percent of Tanzania’s trade.

Announcing the partnership, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, managing director & group CEO, AD Ports Group, said, “AD Ports Group continues to expand its reach around the world, in line with the vision of our leadership, and we offer our thanks for their wise guidance. We are pleased to announce the start of a new collaboration with Hutchison Ports.”
