Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Etihad Rail are exploring opportunities to collaborate on clean energy, smart infrastructure, and sustainable transport solutions as the UAE advances its net-zero ambitions.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, received a delegation from Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE’s national railway network, led by Mohammed Abdulla Alshehhi, Chief Projects Officer, and Ahmed Lootah, Executive Director of Commercial.

During the meeting, Al Tayer highlighted Etihad Rail’s growing role in supporting sustainable economic growth, strengthening national connectivity, and advancing the UAE’s long-term development goals. He described the railway network as a key pillar of the country’s future infrastructure strategy.

Al Tayer also emphasized DEWA’s expertise in renewable energy and smart technologies, positioning the utility as an important enabler of sustainable mobility and logistics infrastructure across the UAE.

He noted that DEWA’s capabilities in solar power, energy storage, smart grids, and AI-driven infrastructure complement Etihad Rail’s role as the backbone of the country’s transport and logistics network. The partnership could unlock opportunities to power railway operations with clean energy while developing integrated, low-carbon transport and utility corridors.

Discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation aligned with the UAE’s vision for world-class infrastructure and sustainable development. Both organizations aim to support the country’s broader net-zero agenda while advancing innovative approaches to low-carbon infrastructure.

The meeting reflects the UAE’s increasing focus on integrating energy, transport, and digital infrastructure to drive sustainable urban development, economic growth, and long-term resilience.
