DP World expands Caucedo hub with new $100 million investment
The investment will expand warehousing and logistics capacity in the Dominican Republic.
DP World and the Government of the Dominican Republic have announced an additional $100 million investment to expand logistics and warehousing infrastructure at the DP World Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Caucedo, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a leading trade and manufacturing hub for the Americas.
The announcement was made during the 12th World Free Zones Congress 2026 and builds on the $760 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2025 between DP World and the Dominican government to expand the Port of Caucedo and its adjoining free trade zone.
The latest investment, made in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs, will fund the development of new warehouse facilities and increase logistics capacity at Caucedo. The expansion is expected to further integrate port, free zone, and logistics services, helping meet growing regional demand for trade and supply chain operations.
The project aligns with the Dominican Republic’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a regional logistics and industrial hub amid rising nearshoring activity and ongoing trade diversification across the Americas.
According to independent research by Oxford Economics, DP World currently supports nearly 5,000 jobs in the Dominican Republic and could help increase the country’s goods exports to $2.4 billion by 2035. The Port of Caucedo handled $13.3 billion in trade in 2024, highlighting its growing role in regional commerce.
Morten Johansen, COO of DP World Americas, said the Dominican Republic is becoming increasingly important to regional trade flows.
“This additional $100 million investment builds on our previously announced commitment, helping position Caucedo as a fully integrated logistics platform capable of supporting long-term trade and industrial growth,” he said.
Manuel Martínez, CEO of DP World Dominican Republic, said the expansion would enhance operational scale and efficiency for businesses operating within the free trade zone.
“By expanding logistics and warehousing infrastructure in the Caucedo Free Trade Zone, we are enabling customers to scale more efficiently while strengthening the Dominican Republic’s competitiveness as a regional trade hub,” he said.
The investment comes as countries across Latin America and the Caribbean accelerate modernization of logistics and industrial infrastructure to meet growing demand for more resilient, diversified supply chains.
