Dubai has secured the top spot among “The Best Maritime Capitals in the World for the Year 2024” in the Arab world, showcasing its prominence in global maritime affairs.

Dubai’s global standing in maritime affairs has significantly risen, moving up two positions to secure the 11th spot worldwide, as revealed in a report launched by DNV and Menon Economics in Singapore.

The report attributes Dubai’s improved ranking in the Leading Maritime Capitals index for 2024 to five key factors: its status as a shipping center, advancements in maritime technology, the efficiency of its ports and logistics infrastructure, its overall attractiveness and competitiveness, and the strength of its financial and legal frameworks. The report also highlights green technology’s significant role in Dubai’s maritime sector.

Meanwhile, Singapore has retained its position as the world’s leading maritime city for 2024.

Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Maktoum, the Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), reiterated the dedication to utilizing research, development, and innovation to improve integrated logistics programs. This commitment aims to uphold the highest professional safety standards, implement best environmental practices, and adhere to local and international regulations.

He further added that this advancement signals Dubai’s trajectory towards global leadership. He stated, “This is a clear indication of the effectiveness and efficiency of Dubai Maritime Authority’s comprehensive development strategy. Dubai’s achievements in the Leading Maritime Capitals index reflect its strength and economic attractiveness, distinguishing its position as a global hub for security and stability, leading in advanced areas of security, technology, financial matters, and green technology.”
