If there’s one commercial airline which has found its way onto the preferred list of every frequent flyer in the Middle East, it would be Emirates. The airline has gained wide popularity among travel bugs for its perfect package of comfort and inflight entertainment options.

To kick it up a notch, Emirates has announced that its incoming fleet of Airbus A350 passenger aircraft will be equipped with cutting-edge in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems as a result of an over $350 million deal with French company Thales Group. The new fleet is scheduled for delivery in 2024, says Emirates.

The new next-gen entertainment system, Thales AVANT Up, promises to offer “a memorable cinematic and personalized passenger experience.” The new technology features Optiq 4K QLED HDR displays. The platform will house Emirates’ multi-award-winning ‘Ice’ IFE system, which delivers more than 5,000 multi-language channels, including live TV and box office movie releases.

“Emirates has always regarded inflight entertainment as an essential aspect of our onboard experience, and we were, in fact, the first airline to put personal screens onto every single seat onboard when that was far from the norm over 30 years ago. Today, Emirates Ice remains unmatched in inflight entertainment content and experience, having won best-in-the-sky awards consecutively for the past 14 years,” says Adel al Redha, Emirates’ chief operating officer.
