Qatar is on the cusp of a paradigm shift in how digital solutions are deployed for large-scale impact, with investments devoted to implementing digital transformation initiatives. The country, with the first commercially operational 5G network in the world, is fostering the development of the digital ecosystem by utilizing information technology tools, including cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

To accelerate this transformation in Qatar, the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (IPA Qatar) has partnered with Microsoft to promote Qatar as the region’s top business location for the digital technology industry. The two partners will collaborate to create initiatives to support and draw startups and rapidly expanding young tech companies in sustainability, finance and insurance, energy, and agriculture.

Apart from technology giant Microsoft, as the steward of the Invest Qatar brand, IPA Qatar has entered into several associations with Iberdrola, FLYR Labs, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), and the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council to foster tech innovation in Qatar.

Last month, Microsoft launched its new data center region in Qatar to deliver enterprise-grade services in the country.
