Web Summit, one of the biggest technology conferences in the world, has announced the launch of a new event in the Middle East called Web Summit Qatar. The event is scheduled for March 2024 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

Web Summit Qatar will create fresh possibilities for connecting the technology industry within burgeoning ecosystems across Africa, and the Middle East. Several regional cities submitted bids, but Doha was selected as the host city for the new event by Web Summit.

“Web Summit in Lisbon has become the world’s largest technology conference, and our ambition is to make Web Summit ever more global. Establishing a new event in the Middle East is part of that broader plan for Web Summit,” said founder and CEO of Web Summit Paddy Cosgrave.

The technology ecosystem in Qatar is growing rapidly, with a thriving startup community and support from both the private and public sectors for technological innovation.

Qatar’s innovation potential ranks 28th in the world, as per the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2021, surpassing other nations in the region. The country significantly emphasizes technology infrastructure investment, concentrating on emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cybersecurity.
