Aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to reduce reliance on hydrocarbons and diversify the economy, the country’s manufacturing sector holds considerable importance.

The Made in Qatar exhibition, held last year, highlighted Qatar’s substantial efforts in promoting locally-made products and introducing new industries to its market. Local companies are striving for self-sufficiency and a decreased dependency on imports.

Qatar’s industrial sector experienced strong growth, with the number of registered and operating factories in the country reaching 957 in 2023. Statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) indicated that the number of factories amounted to 957, while requests to increase capacity and modify production data for factories reached 467.

In 2023, the Ministry noted that the number of industrial project license requests reached 60, with 40 factories listed in the industrial register and 287 requests for factory customs exemption. Additionally, domestic manufactured products reached 1,639, with 23 factory inspection campaigns during the same period.

The Innovation By Design Summit is in Doha on April 24. Attendance at the summit is by invitation only. Delegates can register here to receive their exclusive invite.
