To encourage innovation in the Arab media sector, Saudi Arabia announced the Montij initiative at the 22nd Arab Radio and Television Festival, which was inaugurated on Wednesday in Riyadh by Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, acting media minister for Saudi Arabia.

At the event, Al-Qasabi emphasized the importance of building a media industry to deliver the voice of the Arab world.

Nearly 15,000 people, including 1,000 media professionals from around the world and 200 production companies, attended the event, which saw the Future of Media exhibition launch.

According to Al-Qasabi, the festival offers an opportunity and a forum for discussion, knowledge sharing, and collaboration to address the difficulties in creating a new Arab media industry that is influential in its content and is consistent with the region’s values.

“It is time for (Arabs) to join forces to achieve a sophisticated professional media industry that will help deliver the message of the Arab world in a flexible, influential, and effective manner,” said Al-Qasabi.

The president of the Arab States Broadcasting Union, Mohammed Al-Harthy, recognized various prominent figures in the Arab media and film industries for their active efforts in his speech.

The 22nd edition of the festival features 30 seminars and discussions on topics like stardom, independent media, television and radio production, sports media, and women in the film industry.
