Space42 has expanded its Earth observation capabilities with the successful deployment of three new satellites, strengthening the UAE’s ambitions in the global space and geospatial intelligence sectors.

The UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company announced that Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5 are now fully operational, expanding its Foresight Earth Observation (EO) constellation to five Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites. The enhanced network enables continuous data collection and the delivery of near-real-time geospatial intelligence.

Developed in partnership with Finland-based ICEYE, the satellites form part of a technology transfer initiative aimed at localizing key elements of the space industry supply chain. Integration and testing were completed at Space42’s Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) facility in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the company’s growing domestic manufacturing and engineering capabilities.

“With Foresight-3, -4, and -5 now live, we are expanding sovereign Earth observation with greater speed and consistency to governments, industries, and partners worldwide,” said Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42.

“The collaboration with ICEYE and the successful operations carried out at the Space42 Space Systems facility have strengthened national capabilities to a level that can compete and scale globally. The constellation supports our ambition to become the partner of choice for premium geospatial data while advancing the UAE’s position in this mission-critical industry,” he added.

The new satellites operate in mid-inclined Low Earth Orbit, extending coverage across regions that account for more than 90% of the world’s population. Their complementary orbital paths are designed to provide frequent and consistent monitoring throughout the day.

Data captured by the constellation feeds into GIQ, Space42’s AI-powered geospatial intelligence platform, which transforms raw SAR imagery into actionable insights within minutes. The platform supports governments and businesses in areas ranging from infrastructure monitoring and disaster response to environmental management and security operations.

According to the company, the constellation delivers all-weather imaging with resolutions of up to 25 centimeters, enabling the detection of subtle changes on the Earth’s surface. AI-powered analytics can help reduce emergency response times by up to 90%, lower predictive maintenance costs by up to 30%, and reduce operational inefficiencies by up to 25%.

The expansion comes amid rising global demand for Earth observation services, as governments and industries increasingly rely on geospatial intelligence to manage risk, improve operational efficiency, and advance climate and security goals.

Industry estimates suggest Earth observation insights could generate more than $700 billion in economic value by 2030 while supporting emissions reductions across multiple sectors.

The development also aligns with the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030, which seeks to strengthen sovereign space capabilities through investments in advanced infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and local manufacturing. By combining satellite data with AI-driven analytics, Space42 is positioning itself as a provider of advanced Earth observation services for global markets.
