UAE puts education, skills and knowledge at the center of future growth strategy

Investing in people and building a culture of continuous learning will be central to the UAE’s efforts to strengthen its competitiveness and prepare for future growth, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, said on Friday.

Speaking at a gathering at Union House in Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed said developing generations capable of turning knowledge into achievement and excellence into lasting impact is a strategic priority for the UAE.

He emphasized the importance of developing capable, forward-looking individuals who can respond to global changes by continuously expanding their knowledge and skills.

The UAE is focused on creating the conditions and providing the resources needed to prepare national talent with the knowledge and tools required to support the country’s continued regional and international standing, he said.

Sheikh Mohammed also met winners of the 10th edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, which attracted more than 830,000 students from across the Arab world, marking a record participation for the competition.

He also met top graduates of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), congratulating them on their academic achievements and commitment to learning.

Sheikh Mohammed said reading and learning are essential to developing a generation capable of innovation and turning knowledge into achievements that benefit the UAE and wider society.

He added that investing in people is central to building the future, and that today’s achievements help lay the foundation for future progress.

During the gathering, Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education, presented the ministry’s strategy, which has been developed around the UAE leadership’s vision and government priorities.

The strategy focuses on creating a more flexible, efficient, and sustainable education system while strengthening the UAE’s position among the world’s leading education systems.

Al Amiri also outlined developments planned for the new academic year, including preparations to maintain education standards and improve learning outcomes.

The gathering was attended by senior members of Dubai’s ruling family, ministers, government officials, business leaders, and local dignitaries.

The emphasis on human capital comes as the UAE increasingly positions skills, education, and knowledge as foundations for its next phase of economic and technological development.
