UAE to train 80,000 federal staff under new government AI strategy
Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE’s transition towards “UAE Government 4.0” had officially begun, with a national retreat planned to discuss the strategy.
The UAE Cabinet on Monday launched the country’s largest government training program, targeting 80,000 federal employees as part of a broader national transformation strategy aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into half of all government services and operational processes.
The initiative was announced during a Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, the strategy was introduced under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and aims to position the UAE among the world’s leading governments in adopting “agentic AI” technologies across public sector services and operations.
During the meeting, the Cabinet approved the overall framework defining the roles of ministries and federal entities in implementing the national transformation project, which targets the adoption of agentic AI technologies across 50% of government services and operational activities.
The Cabinet also approved what it described as the UAE’s largest government training program of its kind, designed to equip 80,000 federal employees with skills in agentic AI technologies and tools. The program will include ministers, senior executives and staff across ministries, authorities and federal entities as part of wider efforts to accelerate the country’s digital transformation agenda.
In addition, the Cabinet approved the first package of AI-powered government service bundles aimed at citizens, residents, businesses and investors.
The government also endorsed a national policy to expand artificial intelligence integration within the healthcare sector through the development of a national AI-powered medical system, enhanced digital healthcare infrastructure and specialized AI training for healthcare professionals.
Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE’s transition towards “UAE Government 4.0” had officially begun, adding that a national retreat would soon be held to discuss the transformation strategy.
He also said Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan would oversee the transformation program, as the UAE seeks to become “the best government in the world” in adopting agentic artificial intelligence technologies.
