World Governments Summit and WTTC partner to shape the future of global tourism

The World Governments Summit Organization (WGS) and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) have launched a strategic partnership to strengthen cooperation between governments and the private sector and shape the future of global travel and tourism.

The partnership will focus on developing more responsive and sustainable tourism policies, expanding international dialogue and launching joint initiatives designed to strengthen the sector’s resilience and long-term growth.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Mohammad Yousef Al Sharhan, Managing Director of the World Governments Summit Organization, and Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of WTTC, the two organizations will establish a framework for exchanging knowledge, expertise, and international best practices.

The collaboration will also include joint reports, studies, and research, as well as strategic events and priority projects that address challenges and opportunities across the global tourism industry.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit, said the partnership highlights the importance of bringing governments and businesses together to develop forward-looking approaches to travel and tourism.

He added that more flexible and sustainable policies could strengthen tourism’s contribution to economic growth, investment and job creation while supporting greater international cooperation.

The partnership will use the World Governments Summit as a platform to bring together policymakers, private-sector leaders, experts and international institutions to discuss the forces reshaping tourism and develop solutions to emerging challenges.

“Through our collaboration with the World Governments Summit, we can contribute to developing policies that strengthen resilience, accelerate sustainable growth and unlock the full potential of travel and tourism as a key driver of economic growth, job creation and greater connectivity between economies and communities around the world,” said Guevara.

The agreement also seeks to strengthen public-private cooperation as the tourism industry adapts to shifting economic conditions and wider global transformations.

Al Sharhan said the collaboration would strengthen international dialogue around tourism, development and governance while supporting policies and initiatives designed to increase the sector’s economic and social impact.

The World Governments Summit serves as a global platform bringing together governments, policymakers and business leaders to examine future trends and challenges, while WTTC represents the private sector across the global travel and tourism industry.

Through the partnership, both organizations aim to create a broader platform for governments and businesses to shape future-ready tourism policies while supporting investment, job creation and global connectivity.
